Turn your patio into the perfect entertaining area

Organise your workspace
A built in barbecue is ideal for family meals as well as entertaining in the summer. Position a small table to one side for preparation, and use wire to hang dowels from the fence so cutlery pots, condiment racks and cooking tools will be close to hand.

Find the right furniture
Choose an outdoor table that’s easy to clean and chairs that stack for easy out-of-season storage. If the weather is good, you’re likely to linger over your meal for longer than you would inside so add cushions for comfort.

Add low-maintenance planting
Choose pots in no more than two different materials or colours and use the same finishes for lanterns and lighting, to give a smart look. Group planters in groups of three or five for displays with impact.
